Reporting to the VP Supply Chain & Operations, the Operations Director of Europe English Products, is responsible to lead all aspects of manufacturing in the region, including day-to-day production and supply vs demand management, the strategic planning aspects of manufacturing capacity planning, plant network design and configuration, make versus buy decisions, manufacturing technology development, promoting safety, quality, delivery, cost & cash by a clear LEAN focus. This position is located in Dusseldorf.

Manage material planning:
raw material and WIP inventory

day-to-day procurement from the sourcing-led framework agreements - including resolving day-to-day supplier issues and providing feedback to sourcing

day-to-day production planning and scheduling

Warehousing and inventory management (excluding finished goods)

Manage production schedule


plant-related assembly, test, quality control,

manufacturing engineering, order configuration/customization engineering,

product cost reduction engineering, continuous improvement (OpEx, Lean),

achievement of agreed 'delivery date' to Commercial Operations/ Sales teams

Maintenance management, planning and scheduling of routine maintenance

Manage long-term capacity planning

product network design

product make vs. buy decisions

capital budgeting and investment planning

Regional Production Schedule with Commercial Operations

Outbound logistics and compliance

Facility management and maintenance

Implementation of safety equipment and guarding

Implementation and execution of EHS procedures

Manage special projects (including plant build/expansions, plant shutdowns/rationalizations, technology transfers between plants, emerging market expansion support, new product launch support, competitive product testing support.)


BS/BA in engineering or related major or equivalent combination of education and experience

Extensive Lean manufacturing experience

10 or more years experience managing manufacturing plants with experience in single piece production preferred

Demonstrated experience in a continuous improvement environment

Six Sigma certification preferred

Knowledge of industrial engineering, and employee relations skills required

Experience in working with manufacturing based technology preferred

Footprint rationalization experience required

Global management experience a plus
