TJX Responds to Racial Injustice

We stand against racial injustice. We are committed to listening, learning, and taking action to make a difference. Inclusion and diversity are priorities for TJX, but we know we can do more, and we will.

Inclusion and Diversity

INSPIRING INCLUSION, EMBRACING DIVERSITY—OUR DIFFERENCES MAKE US STRONGER. As a large, complex, and global business, we believe it is important that our workforce reflect the diversity of our customers and the communities we serve. We also believe that creating an inclusive environment in which Associates are engaged and empowered not only strengthens our business, but fosters a culture where Associates are inspired to work hard, challenge themselves, and be innovative in their thinking. ASSOCIATE RESOURCE GROUPS: SUPPORTING OUR COMPANY AND OUR COMMUNITY. In the U.S. and Canada, we have several active Associate Resource Groups organized for networking, development, and support for Associates at our corporate headquarters and in our Loss Prevention (LP) department. Our Associate Resource Groups sponsor educational, volunteer, and social events. Our Associate Resource Groups include: / The Multicultural Coalition / Women Adding Value Every Day / TJX LGBTQ Associates and Allies / Supporting TJX Armed Forces Relations / Leadership, Education, and Adaptation for Disabilities DIVERSITY: WE WOULDN’T BE WHO WE ARE WITHOUT IT. Each one of our Associates brings something unique to our collective culture. We welcome new Associates to our Company through diversity recruitment strategies. Recognition: / TJX scored 100 on the Corporate Equality Index of the U.S.-based Human Rights Campaign in nine of the past 11 years / Forbes listed TJX as a Best Employer for Women and for New Graduates in 2018 and for Diversity in 2019 / Over the years, TJX has been listed as a Top Diversity Employer by Black EOE Journal, Hispanic Network Magazine, and Careers & the disABLED magazine INCLUSION-RELATED LEARNING: WE CAN ALL LEARN FROM EACH OTHER. Inclusion-related learning varies among the countries in which we operate and is tailored to address the environment an Associate most often encounters. For instance, in the U.S., store management may use a tool called “Culture Pulse” to gauge how store teams are performing in the areas of customer engagement and in their connections with each other.

Our Story

IT’S ONE WE’RE REALLY PROUD TO TELL. TJX is the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions worldwide. We offer great opportunities, an incredible culture, and a sense of excitement for the future. Our mission is to deliver our customers with great value, which we define as a combination of brand, fashion, price, and quality. VALUE & OFF-PRICE: EXCITING MERCHANDISE, AMAZING PRICES, EVERY DAY. As the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide, TJX delivers great value on ever-changing selections of high quality, fashionable, brand name and designer merchandise at prices generally 20%-60% below full-price retailers’ (including department, specialty, and major online retailers) regular prices, on comparable merchandise, every day. Unlike more traditional retailers, our retail chains generally don’t engage in promotional pricing activity like sales, coupons, or other gimmicks – just exciting merchandise at amazing prices, every single day! EXCITEMENT & DISCOVERY: IT’S WHY WE HAVE SO MANY LOYAL CUSTOMERS. Unlike other types of retailers that buy seasonally, we have new high quality, brand name, and designer merchandise arriving in our stores several times a week, with each delivery containing thousands of items. And our e-commerce sites – tjmaxx.com, sierra.com, and tkmaxx.com – add new merchandise almost daily. We tell our customers, “If you love it, grab it!” We don’t hold replenishment stock in our back rooms and often, the store managers don’t even know what’s coming until we throw open the delivery truck doors. That’s what makes us so exciting to shop. OUR LOVE FOR OFF-PRICE IS GLOBAL: Just like our buyers. Our buyers are on the hunt throughout the year for the hottest brand name and designer merchandise for the entire family and home — from trendy tops and handbags, to bold ties and footwear, to gourmet cookware and furniture, to hiking gear and active wear. They are opportunistic and entrepreneurial. When a designer or manufacturer overproduces or other stores overbuy, they swoop in, negotiate the lowest possible price, and pass the savings on.

Our Culture

OUR CULTURE STANDS OUT BECAUSE OUR ASSOCIATES STAND OUT. At TJX, we strive for a workplace where our Associates feel welcomed when they walk in the door, valued for their contributions, skills, and experience, and engaged with our mission to provide value to our customers. We fully appreciate that our Associates bring our business to life, and we aim to support them by making TJX a terrific place to work. OUR VALUES: THEY’RE WHAT MAKE US WHO WE ARE. TJX is an exciting place to work and we count on our Associates to bring our business to life. Staying true to our values of honesty, integrity, and treating others with dignity and respect is a top priority for us—across everything we do. COLLABORATION: WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. At TJX, relationships matter. We’re proud that decision-making is participatory, we share ideas, and we’re not afraid to involve others in decisions to get the best results. OUR OPEN DOOR PHILOSOPHY: AN INCLUSIVE WORKPLACE. YOU HAVE A VOICE. Having an inclusive work environment supports our continued success. When everyone is comfortable bringing their unique perspectives, opinions, and talents to work, we get fresh and innovative ideas that we can utilize for problem solving and finding new opportunities.

Corporate Responsibility

THE VALUE WE BRING TO THE WORLD IS AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT WE SELL. We believe that the real value we bring to the world is as important as what we sell. By investing in our Associates and our communities, being mindful of our impact on the environment, and operating our business ethically, we address the interests of our stakeholders – specifically, our Associates, customers, communities, vendors, and shareholders. We believe it’s important that they know we share their values. OUR WORKPLACE AND OUR COMMUNITIES: IT’S ABOUT ENRICHING THE LIVES OF OUR ASSOCIATES—AND OUR NEIGHBORS. Associates bring our business to life and we aim to support them by making TJX a terrific place to work. Likewise, we aim to enrich the lives of customers and neighbors through charitable giving, volunteering, and community partnerships, and by leveraging our vast store network to raise funds for organizations aligned with our community-giving mission. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY: SMART FOR BUSINESS. GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. We are focused on initiatives that are smart for our business and good for the environment. Our key areas of focus include energy efficiency, reducing fuel usage, recycling and waste management, and greener building designs. Caring for the environment isn’t something we do because it’s trendy—we’ve been on the FTSE4GOOD stock index for nearly 20 years running. RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS: IT’S THE WAY WE OPERATE. Operating responsibly and ethically is part of our DNA and helps us deliver extreme value to our customers, build longstanding relationships with our vendors, and create long-term value for our shareholders. And speaking of vendors, we expect them to uphold the high ethical standards embodied in our Vendor Code of Conduct and social compliance program.
