We - MT Aerospace - are part of the OHB Space and Technology Group. As a leading international aerospace company, we develop, manufacture and test essential components for launcher programs such as Ariane, the U.S. Space Launch System (SLS) as well as commercial launcher systems, the Airbus fleet, spacecrafts, satellites and defense applications. Thanks to globally unique manufacturing technologies, we create high-performance products made of metal and fiber composites, such as large load-bearing structures and cryotanks, lightweight structures and fuel as well as pressure tanks that combine maximum performance with minimum weight. Especially our business areas of additive manufacturing, CFRP and hydrogen mobility make us a sought-after partner outside the aerospace sector as well. We currently employ around 600 people at our headquarter in Augsburg and at the launch site in Kourou (French Guiana).

Your Tasks

  • Managing a team of engineers, technicians and specialists
  • Capacity and resource planning, taking into account project and production requirements
  • Responsibility for industrial metal manufacturing processes (e.g. machining, forming, welding, heat treatment, surface treatment)
  • Ensuring process stability, capability and approval in series production
  • Ensuring compliance with industry-specific standards, regulations, quality standards and safety requirements
  • Introduction, qualification and further development of metalworking technologies and processes
  • Supporting the industrialisation of new products and manufacturing processes
  • Analysis of process deviations and disruptions during ongoing operations
  • Initiating and managing corrective actions and sustainable improvements
  • Monitoring relevant KPIs (e.g. scrap, rework, lead times)
  • Reporting to line managers, project managers and customers

Your Qualifications

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, production engineering, materials science or a comparable qualification
  • Several years’ professional experience in metal fabrication, ideally in the aerospace sector
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial metal fabrication processes and their certification
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, quality requirements and approval procedures
  • Experience in team management is desirable
  • Strong communication skills, as well as competence in conflict resolution and decision-making
  • Ability to work in a team and assertiveness
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Analytical thinking, as well as an independent, structured and goal-oriented approach to work
