Principal | Toronto Private School

The Opportunity

Our firm has been exclusively retained by a growing private school in Toronto to identify its Principal. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced school leader who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and is ready to play a central role in shaping both the academic program and the institution's long-term trajectory.

The incoming Principal will serve as the school's Chief Administrator — responsible for academic leadership, operational oversight, staff development, family engagement, and active participation in enrollment strategy. The school is in an active growth phase and is looking for a hands-on leader who brings vision, follow-through, and genuine investment in the community they serve.

About the School

The school is a Ministry of Education-registered private school operating under the Ontario curriculum. Combining academic rigour with personalized support, strong community culture, and a genuine commitment to each student's long-term success. The environment is caring, inclusive, and relationship-driven, with deep respect for the diversity of students and families it serves.

What You'll Do

Academic Leadership & School Operations

- Set the academic direction of the school and hold the team accountable to high standards of teaching and learning

- Oversee curriculum development and instructional practice across grade levels, ensuring alignment with Ontario curriculum requirements

- Conduct staff performance reviews, provide coaching and mentorship, and lead ongoing professional development

- Carry a portion of teaching responsibilities to support operations and model instructional excellence

- Contribute to both short- and long-term strategic planning

Curriculum & Pathway Planning

- Apply working knowledge of Canadian and major international university admission requirements to early academic advising

- Design flexible learning pathways that meet the needs of a diverse student body, including ESL and internationally-educated learners

Enrollment & Family Engagement

- Partner with school leadership on enrollment goal-setting and recruitment strategy

- Participate in parent consultations, and prospective family meetings

- Clearly and compellingly communicate the school's program, values, and outcomes

- Travel as needed to support outreach and recruitment efforts

School Culture & Student Well-Being

- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and high-functioning school environment

- Oversee student conduct, attendance, and well-being, connecting students and families to appropriate support resources

- Build authentic, trust-based relationships across the school community

- Plan and lead community events that strengthen the school's connection with families

Summer School

- Oversee the planning and delivery of the annual Summer School program, including curriculum, staffing, and enrollment

- Continuously evaluate and improve program quality based on student and family feedback

Compliance & Regulatory Relations

- Ensure the school operates in full compliance with Ontario Ministry of Education requirements

- Lead the preparation and execution of the school's annual inspection process

- Maintain proactive communication with the Ministry and relevant regulatory bodies

- Monitor policy changes and assess their operational implications

What We're Looking For

Credentials

- Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field; doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) is an asset

- Ontario Principal Qualification Program (PQP) — completed

- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification

Experience & Skills

- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Principal or Vice-Principal in an Ontario school setting

- Strong instructional background with demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development and effective pedagogy

- Track record of managing multiple priorities — academic administration, budgeting, family relations, and enrollment — simultaneously

- Familiarity with Ontario Ministry regulations, compliance requirements, and the annual inspection process

- Entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented mindset with strong execution skills

- Exceptional communicator — with staff, students, families, and external stakeholders

- Committed to equity, inclusion, and building a school culture where every student belongs
